In the ongoing YSL RICO lawsuit, Gunna did not turn on Young Thug, as stated by Mondo, the crew's co-founder.
The rapper and record entrepreneur, real name Fremondo Crenshaw, took to Instagram Story to retract some of the things Gunna had said on Thug in order to get a plea deal and get out of jail. "I'm man enough to say I shouldve never spoken about the Gunna situation because, in theory, he didn't rat," Mondo wrote. Since all the originals knew he didn't do anything and wasn't even there from the start, he should have just stayed down with his men until everything was over instead of kind of folding under pressure. "So he wasn't going to do no real time regardless I felt bad because now an n-gga who literally is a real live rat running around the city getting glorified & smiling like he ain't just send multiple n-ggas to jail," he said, adding that someone else had actually spied on Thugger. I was so angry and hurt that my brother was going through this after turning into a big fat liar. Gunna has been the target of snitching allegations ever since he agreed to a plea agreement in the RICO case in December 2022, but he has angrily refuted the allegations.
"After being released from jail, I have made the decision to always be truthful, but I also want to clarify that I have not made any statements, been interviewed, cooperated, or agreed to testify for or against any party in the case, and I have no intention of being involved in the trial process in any way," he stated. Last year, Jeffery Williams Sr. said to radio presenter Infamous Sylvia, "I love Gunna." "Allow me to attempt to assist the lawyer in making that a little more clear. Gunna has done nothing at all to put us at risk in this situation. Exactly.
